Welcome to the John Martin Campaign
Welcome and thank you for visiting my website! Before I get started, I would like to thank the great folks at the Builders Association of North Central Florida, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Gainesville-Alachua County Association of Realtors for endorsing me in this race and trusting that I will bring the much needed positive change to this county.
Let me take a moment to tell you why I am running for Alachua County Commission District #1.
As a life long resident of Alachua County I have watched the gradual transformation of our County from its rural nature to being the hub of N. Central Florida. Although much of this change has been positive like many of you I see the blessings and opportunities that we appreciate slipping away from too many of our citizens. Increasingly we see Commissioners ignoring the needs of our residents to serve their own agendas. Too often, instead of listening to the citizens, Commissioners come to the table with preconceived opinions based on “Experts” who are self- serving with little or no knowledge of our needs.
Instead of a commissioner trying to push his utopian vision of the future on the citizens imagine a Commissioner that will listen to your vision and govern in a way that gives you the chance to follow “Your Dream”. Imagine a Commissioner who will actually push for economic opportunity for all. Imagine a Commissioner who realizes that the best way to lift people out of poverty is not by giving lip service to phrases like “Quality of Life” but to stop impeding job growth. Imagine a Commissioner who realizes that the best “Quality of Life” is attained by a JOB with decent wages.
People often ask me why I am committed to taking this responsibility. I come from a “Family Tradition” that has been blessed to call Alachua County home and I was taught that “To whom much has been given, much is expected”. I want to ensure that we all have the liberty and opportunity to pursue our dreams. With your help we can get our County back on track.
